Overview

The Shipping Associate at Tractor Supply Company is responsible for receiving inventory, selecting merchandise for shipping, and loading products onto trailers while maintaining company standards for accuracy, safety, and quality. This entry-level position requires effective inventory management and adherence to safety regulations in a fast-paced distribution center environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and unload incoming shipments and direct merchandise appropriately.
  • Check against bills of lading and packing slips to ensure accuracy.
  • Take inventory of merchandise and maintain records of goods received.
  • Identify, separate, label, and palletize merchandise for shipment.
  • Prepare and process supply orders for UPS and store shipments.
  • Perform cycle counts and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Move merchandise using hand trucks or forklifts as needed.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of orders before loading.
  • Conduct job duties while adhering to safety and OSHA standards.

Required skills

  • 0-2 years of experience in a distribution center
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds continuously
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Knowledge of operating material handling equipment
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to operate RF terminals, bar code scanners, and PCs
