SummaryYou will serve as a SHIPFITTER (FLANGE TURNER) in the Structural Shop in the Production Department Code 920 of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.Learn more about this agencyDutiesHelpYou will work from blueprints, templates, mock-ups, or marked stock and determines machine, heating, and hand operations required based on size and thickness of stock.You will perform other shaping and bending operations with heavy hydraulic machinery.You will use molds, forms, templates or blueprints, and working with hot or cold stock, bends and shapes plates, bars, channels, and I-beams by bending material over forms using sledgehammers, shaping tools, and weights.You will lay out, fabricates, assemblies, and installs various metal structural assemblies, structures and pieces for ships and other vessels.You will apply methods and procedures used in the bending and shaping of ship structural plates and shapes.You will operate oxy/acetylene gas heating torches.You will read blueprints, Job Orders or JIC specifications, sketches, manuals, memos and other trade-related information.You will make shop calculations using ordinary arithmetic, geometry and other trade related mathematicalmethods.RequirementsHelpConditions of employmentMust be a US Citizen.Must be determined suitable for federal employment.Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
