Job Description

Overview

As a Ship Clerk at Amazon, you will be a critical part of the Middle Mile network, responsible for planning loads, controlling load flow, and ensuring trailer utilization. This role involves managing daily departmental duties, communicating with internal and external partners, and driving operational excellence in safety, quality, productivity, and on-time performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage daily management of department duties including load planning and flow control
  • Correspond with multiple shipping companies and their contacts
  • Use shipping software to track packages
  • Coordinate trailers to corresponding dock doors and cross docks
  • Troubleshoot shipping problems and ensure on-time dock performance
  • Assist in updating staging PODs and resource allocation
  • Oversee Load Flow Control and maintain performance tracking
  • Coordinate with transportation teams on various logistical issues
  • Ensure safety measures are in place
  • Train associates and ensure SOP compliance
  • Participate in Operational Excellence initiatives
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the work area

Required skills

  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and stand/walk for 12-hour shifts
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects
  • Experience in training or presentation is preferred
