Job Description

Overview

The Sheet Metal Journeyman at Questec in Independence, MO is responsible for the installation of HVAC systems, which includes managing the entire process from ordering materials to completing the installation. The role requires hands-on skills in various HVAC-related tasks and collaboration with subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

  • Install new or replacement HVAC systems
  • Order materials and schedule crane service
  • Conduct permit inspections and demo existing equipment
  • Prepare new equipment for installation
  • Install HVAC split systems and rooftop units
  • Install refrigeration units and refrigerant piping
  • Install sheet metal duct and transitions
  • Install gas piping and electrical wiring as needed
  • Collaborate with subcontractors on the job
  • Weld as necessary and provide service experience

Required skills

  • EPA Certification
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in HVAC
  • Journeyman License
  • Ability to work on ladders, roofs, lifts, and ground level
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent time management and efficiency
  • Proficient with torch, vacuum pump, recovery machine, and electrical meter
  • Experience in welding and previous service experience preferred
