Overview

The Sheet Metal Fabricator at Johnson Thermal Systems is responsible for preparing, fabricating, and cutting metal products for assembly. The role involves working with various tools and machines to ensure that metal components meet specifications for assembly in power packaging units, along with operating a forklift to move materials.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare, fabricate, and cut metal products using tools like presses, shears, saws, and lathes.
  • Lay out and examine metal stock to ensure specifications are met.
  • Assemble and position work pieces, removing them from machinery as needed.
  • Set up and operate specialized equipment for fabrication of stainless sheet metal.
  • Study blueprints and production schedules to determine material specifications and dimensions.
  • Clean and lubricate machines.
  • Cross-train in welding and metalworking techniques as appropriate.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years' experience in manufacturing or construction
  • 2+ years' experience operating press brake/shear
  • Forklift operation experience
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Mathematical skills for calculations and measurements
  • Detail-oriented and quality focused
  • Time management skills
