Job Description

Overview

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide compassionate and non-judgmental care to victims of sexual assault in the Emergency Department. The role involves conducting medical-forensic exams, offering prophylaxis, documenting evidence, and making referrals for further support. This is a PRN position that requires flexibility in work hours and shifts.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide timely and compassionate care to sexual assault victims
  • Conduct medical-forensic examinations
  • Administer prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections
  • Document photographic evidence
  • Make referrals for medical and psychological follow-up
  • Support and participate in legal proceedings

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Valid and Current Texas RN license
  • Current SANE certification or in-progress with a timeline to complete within six months
  • Current TNCC certification
  • Two years of Emergency Department or Acute Care experience preferred
