Job Description

Overview

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) at Methodist Health System will provide compassionate, non-judgmental care to victims of sexual assault. Responsibilities include conducting medical-forensic exams, offering prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, and supporting patients through legal proceedings.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide timely and compassionate care to sexual assault victims
  • Conduct medical-forensic examinations
  • Offer prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections
  • Document medical evidence through photography
  • Refer patients for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Valid and current Texas RN license
  • Current SANE certification or in-progress certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Current TNCC certification
  • Two years of experience in Emergency Department or Acute Care preferred
