Overview

Pernini Recruiting Company is seeking a Senior Underwriting Counsel Attorney for their Agency Division in Tarrytown, NY. This hybrid role requires an experienced attorney to provide underwriting guidance, risk analysis, and transactional support related to real estate title insurance, while collaborating with internal teams, agents, and customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide underwriting support and counsel related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies
  • Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits
  • Guide company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services
  • Issue underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes
  • Prepare and present educational content for company personnel, agents, and customers
  • Conduct continuing legal education with clients
  • Manage a diverse pipeline of real estate transactions

Required skills

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active Bar Admission in New York
  • 8-10 years of experience in title insurance underwriting
  • Understanding of underwriting processes for real estate transactions
  • Knowledge of federal and state real estate laws and regulations
  • Strong judgment and customer-centric communication skills
  • Organizational skills to manage significant transaction volume
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within the New York market area
