Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to join their Naval Powers System Safety team in Tucson, Arizona. This role focuses on ensuring systems meet MIL-STD-882E standards for safety, coordinating with multiple integrated product teams, and collaborating with program management and government authorities throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
  • Perform system safety program tasks and analyses
  • Coordinate with customer safety representatives for safety approvals
  • Collaborate with integrated product teams to eliminate hazards
  • Brief safety program at technical reviews
  • Interpret system requirements and military standards
  • Prepare internal and customer reports on safety analyses
  • Collaborate across disciplines for product understanding

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience with System Safety Engineering
  • Knowledge of software/firmware or electrical engineering
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government secret security clearance
  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Interpersonal and project management skills
