Overview

The Senior Supports - ADL Counselor at the Windsor Independent Living Association (WILA) is responsible for providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, facilitating meaningful day programming, and ensuring engagement in daily activities. This role involves documentation for Medicaid billing, transport of individuals to activities, and assistance with daily living skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Advocate for individuals to lead self-directed lives
  • Engage individuals daily to provide meaningful day programming
  • Plan, schedule, and participate in various therapeutic activities
  • Perform day-to-day problem solving
  • Complete all required documentation for Medicaid billing
  • Transport individuals to activities
  • Assist clients with daily living and hygiene skills
  • Administer medication as needed
  • Communicate professionally with individuals, families, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Participate in all meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Active CPR and First Aid certification
  • DDS Medication Administration Certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications and Therap
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with leadership and diverse teams
