Overview

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer specializing in Mobile (Android) at Capital One Canada, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the creation of technology solutions that align with business objectives. With a focus on hands-on development, technical design and architecture, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape innovative solutions while advocating for best practices in architecture and design.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical strategy and vision for complex, multi-domain Android platform needs.
  • Provide hands-on engineering guidance to ensure successful execution of technical initiatives.
  • Influence architectural roadmaps and major technical investments across the organization.
  • Mentor and coach engineers and senior technical leaders, including providing guidance to Junior, Intermediate, and Senior associates.
  • Engage in the full Software Development Life Cycle as part of the dynamic mobile team.

Required skills

  • At least 8 years of hands-on development of Native Android applications using Java/Kotlin.
  • Experience with application design, technical architecture, and development.
  • Familiarity with RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • 10+ years of experience leading the full life-cycle of Software Development.
  • Exposure to AWS or other cloud products.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
