Overview

Capital One Canada is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for its Travel Tech team to design scalable technology solutions that align with business goals. The role requires leading architectural solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and advocating for best practices in software engineering while creating impactful user experiences for travelers.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement architectural solutions aligning with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive catalog of technical and business capabilities.
  • Lead the creation and review of Architectural Decision Records and High-Level Design documents.
  • Participate in governance forums ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote technology strategies for business value.
  • Mentor and lead teams in architectural best practices and continuous improvement.

Required skills

  • At least 8 years of experience in Software Engineering and Systems Architecture.
  • At least 2 years of experience creating solutions architectures in public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience in architecting, designing, and delivering scalable systems in regulated environments.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect in large/complex organizations.
  • Experience mentoring software engineers or architects.
  • Strong communication skills across organizational levels with technical depth.
