Job Description

Overview

Higginbotham HR Consulting is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant for a fast-growing, customer-focused bank in Waco, Texas. The successful candidate will support the bank's accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and GAAP while playing a key role in month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, and financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries
  • Maintain assigned general ledger accounts
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations and analyses
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes including variance analysis
  • Prepare and update recurring regulatory, management, and board-related reports
  • Analyze financial results and communicate findings to management
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation
  • Monitor and improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses for management

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA preferred
  • Minimum four years of accounting experience
  • Experience with general ledger reconciliations and financial analysis
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with budgeting/reporting software and banking core systems
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
