Job Description

Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant at the Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership (BRHP) plays a vital role in supporting the organization's mission of assisting families in obtaining quality housing. The position involves overseeing financial transactions, including processing rental payments and managing various accounting operations within a nonprofit setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly payment process of approximately $9 million
  • Manage credit card transactions and collection of receipts
  • Handle deposit recording in the accounting and treasury management systems
  • Manage transactions for repayment agreements and donations in accounting systems
  • Process new owner setups and ownership changes in Yardi
  • Support the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Assist with financial and single audits and tax returns
  • Contribute to special projects as needed

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum three years' experience in nonprofit financial operations
  • Advanced knowledge of financial management and internal controls
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Yardi database and handling Accounts Payable
  • Understanding of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Voucher Management System (VMS)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
