Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer for their Missile Solutions Segment in Orange, Virginia. The role involves working within a matrixed organization to improve and automate production lines while reducing costs and driving manufacturing improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing activities alongside operations, quality engineering, and program management
  • Improve, automate, and grow existing production lines
  • Reduce Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ)
  • Coordinate and lead significant improvement projects
  • Provide direction to lower level manufacturing engineering staff
  • Develop detailed process instructions based on technical drawings and specifications
  • Conduct defect identification, resolution, and root cause investigations
  • Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) and engage in continuous improvement activities
  • Support tooling development and design reviews for manufacturing processes
  • Own and ensure compliance to safety and quality standards

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant engineering experience or 10 years of related experience without a degree
  • Advanced knowledge of machining, fabrication, and CNC programming
  • Experience in manufacturing and fabrication environment
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements from drawings and specifications
