Overview

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Senior Silviculture Forester to join their Grande Prairie Timberlands team. This role focuses on leading silvicultural projects with an emphasis on sustainability, accountability, and collaboration. The successful candidate will work closely with site leadership and various partners to ensure effective silviculture practices that foster forest productivity and environmental stewardship.

Key responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with the Grande Prairie site leadership team on silviculture strategy.
  • Own silviculture programs from planning through execution, ensuring compliance and performance oversight.
  • Lead a data-driven approach to silviculture by managing data quality and interpreting performance trends.
  • Manage and lead contractors to ensure safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Build relationships with Indigenous communities, government agencies, and stakeholders.

Required skills

  • Experience in leading silviculture programs and managing budgets and compliance.
  • Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or eligibility for registration in Alberta.
  • Proven capability in contractor management and performance oversight.
  • Strong understanding of silviculture data and information systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
