Overview

The Senior Silviculture Forester at Weyerhaeuser will lead silvicultural projects in Grande Prairie, Alberta, focusing on sustainable forest management. This role emphasizes collaboration, data-driven decision making, and team leadership, aimed at achieving operational effectiveness and long-term outcomes in forest productivity.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with site leadership and regional teams to support silviculture strategy and execution
  • Own silviculture programs from planning through execution, ensuring accountability for cost control and compliance
  • Lead efforts towards a disciplined, data-driven silviculture system
  • Manage performance and expectations of contractors in a contractor-heavy environment
  • Build relationships with Indigenous communities, government agencies, and researchers

Required skills

  • Experience in leading silviculture programs
  • Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or eligibility for registration in Alberta
  • Strong understanding of silviculture data and information systems
  • Proven ability to manage performance and deliver results through others
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving capabilities
