Overview

As a Senior Protection & Control Engineer at PacifiCorp in Portland, Oregon, you will leverage your engineering expertise to support the safe and reliable delivery of power across transmission and distribution systems. Your role involves developing studies, detailed designs, and protection system settings, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and contributing to infrastructure reliability.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop protection system schematic designs
  • Conduct short circuit and symmetrical component analysis
  • Perform protection system coordination studies
  • Develop relay settings and protection system automation logic
  • Conduct arc flash analysis
  • Manage integration with SCADA systems
  • Develop complex electrical engineering studies and scopes of work
  • Provide peer review for engineering designs and studies
  • Guide and direct junior engineers and technicians
  • Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and WECC regulations
  • Analyze and design engineering methods

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or technology
  • Minimum five years of applicable engineering experience
  • Project management and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of substations design and power system protection
  • Ability to perform in high-pressure situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and automated tools
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
  • Power systems focused Master's degree preferred
