Overview

The Senior Project Accountant at Lutheran Social Services of WI & UP MI is responsible for the financial management of rental properties, ensuring accurate recording of income, expenses, and compliance with accounting standards. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and external parties to prepare financial reports, manage audits, and maintain high ethical standards in financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Record rental income and expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties
  • Prepare financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets
  • Lead HUD and LIHTC audits for assigned properties
  • Collaborate with operations team and property managers to resolve tenant issues
  • Manage intercompany billing and construction draws
  • Provide guidance to finance team members and support budgeting processes
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain cash management practices
  • Design and implement internal control procedures

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of experience in financial accounting or auditing
  • Strong technical skills in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Effective communication skills for presenting financial information
  • Ability to mentor colleagues and manage multiple priorities
