Overview

The Senior Project Accountant at Lutheran Social Services of WI & UP MI will manage the financial accounting for rental properties, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and effective financial reporting. The position involves collaboration with various teams and external parties to oversee financial management, prepare reports, and lead audits, all while maintaining ethical standards in financial practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Record all rental income and expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties
  • Collaborate with operations team to resolve issues in tenant subledgers
  • Prepare monthly intercompany billing for project payroll expenses
  • Lead HUD and LIHTC audits for assigned properties
  • Generate monthly financial reports including income statements and cash flow statements
  • Manage banking transactions and ensure proper adherence to GAAP accounting
  • Participate in the budgeting process and forecast future cash flows
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial audits
  • Provide guidance and support to finance team members

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of experience in financial accounting or auditing
  • Strong technical skills in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and make recommendations
  • Proactive problem-solving skills
  • Experience in mentoring or providing guidance to colleagues
