Overview

The Senior Project Accountant at Lutheran Social Services of WI & UP MI will oversee financial management of rental properties, ensuring accurate recording of income and expenses, preparing financial reports, and leading audits. The role requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to support project goals and maintain high ethical standards in accounting practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Record rental income and expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties.
  • Collaborate with operations team and property managers to resolve tenant subledger issues.
  • Prepare monthly intercompany billing for payroll expenses and reimbursements.
  • Lead HUD and LIHTC audits for assigned properties.
  • Generate financial reports including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Participate in budgeting processes and forecast future cash flow.
  • Design and coordinate implementation of internal control procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of annual financial and single audits.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of financial accounting or auditing experience
  • Strong technical skills in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups and pivot tables)
  • Effective communication skills for engagements with various stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
