Overview

The Senior Project Accountant will provide specialized accounting support focused on the financial management of rental properties under the direction of the Manager of Project Accounting. This role involves meticulous recording of income and expenses as well as preparation of financial reports, leading project audits, and collaborating with various teams to ensure accurate financial oversight.

Key responsibilities

  • Record all rental income and expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties
  • Prepare financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets
  • Lead HUD and LIHTC audits for assigned properties
  • Collaborate with operations teams to resolve tenant ledger issues
  • Prepare monthly intercompany billing and account reconciliations
  • Manage balance sheet and ensure adherence to GAAP
  • Participate in budgeting and cash flow forecasting
  • Create and maintain internal control procedures
  • Mentor finance team members

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of experience in financial accounting or auditing
  • Strong technical skills in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Effective communication skills with non-accounting colleagues
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficient in using accounting software and databases
