Overview

The Senior Project Accountant at Lutheran Social Services of WI & UP MI will support financial management related to rental properties. This role includes meticulous recording of income and expenses, leading audits, preparing reports, and collaborating with various teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Record rental income and expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties
  • Prepare and record monthly intercompany billing
  • Lead audits for assigned properties
  • Generate financial reports such as income statements and balance sheets
  • Collaborate with operations teams to resolve tenant subledger issues
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting cash flows
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to finance team members
  • Design and implement internal control procedures
  • Support compliance with GAAP

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of experience in financial accounting or auditing
  • CPA license (preferred but not required)
  • Strong technical skills in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and reports
  • Experience with accounting software and financial applications
