Overview

The Senior Project Accountant at Lutheran Social Services of WI & UP MI will manage financial accounting related to rental properties, ensuring compliance with GAAP and overseeing income and expense recording. This role involves collaboration with various teams and stakeholders, leading audits, and preparing financial reports to support project management and financial performance assessments.

Key responsibilities

  • Record all rental income and expenses for properties under HUD and LIHTC.
  • Collaborate with property managers to resolve tenant subledger issues.
  • Lead HUD and LIHTC audits for assigned properties.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and income statement fluctuation analysis.
  • Manage the balance sheet ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Design and implement internal control procedures for transaction recording.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting for projects.
  • Guide and mentor finance team members.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of experience in financial accounting or auditing
  • Strong technical skills in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to mentor colleagues and work collaboratively
