Overview

The Senior Project Accountant will work under the direction of the Manager of Project Accounting at Lutheran Social Services of WI & UP MI, focusing on the financial management of rental properties. This includes recording income and expenses, preparing financial reports, leading audits, and collaborating with operations and external parties to ensure efficient property management.

Key responsibilities

  • Record rental income and related expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties
  • Collaborate with property managers to resolve issues
  • Prepare and record monthly intercompany billing
  • Lead audits for assigned properties
  • Generate financial reports including income statements and cash flow statements
  • Maintain accounting software and financial reporting processes
  • Manage balance sheet adherence to GAAP
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Provide mentorship to finance team members

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of financial accounting or auditing experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate with upper management and external investors
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
