Overview

The Senior Project Accountant at Lutheran Social Services of WI & UP MI will focus on the financial management of rental properties, ensuring accurate recording of income and expenses and preparing financial reports. This role will lead project audits and collaborate closely with other teams to maintain adherence to accounting standards and improve financial practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Record all rental income and associated expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties
  • Lead HUD and LIHTC audits for assigned properties
  • Prepare and record monthly intercompany billing
  • Generate financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets
  • Manage balance sheet adherence to GAAP accounting
  • Collaborate with property management to resolve accounting issues
  • Assist in the creation of policies and procedures for accounting practices
  • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of financial accounting or auditing experience
  • Proficiency in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with management and external parties
  • Ability to mentor and guide finance team members
  • Experience with accounting software and financial applications
