Job Description

Overview

The Senior Project Accountant will support financial management for rental properties at Lutheran Social Services, overseeing income recording, expense tracking, audits, and project reporting in a collaborative environment. This role requires attention to detail and adherence to GAAP compliance while working closely with the General Accounting and Financial Services teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Record all rental income and maintenance expenses for HUD and LIHTC properties
  • Lead audits for assigned properties
  • Collaborate with operations team and external investors
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including income statements and cash flow statements
  • Manage balance sheet and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting for each property
  • Design and implement internal control procedures
  • Provide guidance to finance team members as necessary

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of financial accounting or auditing experience
  • Strong technical skills in GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
