Overview

The Senior Program Officer at Democracy Fund will lead grantmaking and foster relationships with grantees, focusing on advancing democracy through strategic engagement and support. This role requires collaboration with diverse stakeholders and ensures effective program execution within a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute high-quality grantmaking to drive program goals.
  • Lead grant development and manage individual grants through the grantmaking process.
  • Develop and manage strong grantee relationships.
  • Drive network building and support grantee activities through convenings and research.
  • Manage philanthropic partnerships in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Support the creation of communications materials for external audiences.
  • Contribute to strategy implementation and recommend program adjustments.
  • Facilitate the visibility of grantee work through communications and collaborations.
  • Mentor and lead Program Officers and coordinators.

Required skills

  • 8+ years of experience in pro-democracy systems or organizations.
  • Significant grantmaking or related experience.
  • Established relationships in community-centered media policy and national media reform.
  • Proven project management skills across diverse teams.
  • Strong external communications and relationship building skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
