Job Description

Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer at Schneider Packaging Equipment will be responsible for designing and developing engineered systems and subsystems across various projects. This onsite role requires a deep understanding of mechanical design within a manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as mechanical lead and design equipment on tier 2-4 projects.
  • Incorporate standard mechanical designs and subsystems for efficient manufacturing.
  • Provide mentoring and training for newly onboarded Mechanical Engineers.
  • Develop new mechanism and machine designs based on industry needs.
  • Execute projects within established scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Requisition components while maintaining compliance with vendor lists.
  • Identify issues and provide corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Communicate designs with other company areas for effective project outcomes.
  • Provide mechanical design direction during installation and startup.
  • Attend departmental and process improvement meetings.
  • Travel for field support and customer satisfaction as needed.

Required skills

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in a design-build manufacturing environment.
  • 3D modeling experience using CAD software, preferably Inventor and Vault.
  • Ability to size mechanical components into assemblies.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and electronic systems for industrial machinery.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Ability to update project statuses and predict timelines using Smartsheets.
