Overview

Dover Food Retail is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Fabrication in Richmond, Virginia, responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes while improving safety, quality, and productivity. This role involves planning and coordinating processes in an industrial plant, and contributing to key performance indicators and company goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in the industrial plant.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
  • Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Acts as a technical advisor for fabrication processes.
  • Confers with planning and design staff regarding product design and tooling.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and costs.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes to current manufacturing processes.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency through workflow and space analysis.
  • Evaluates capital equipment investments and manages projects.
  • Conducts make-vs-buy analysis of product components.

Required skills

  • Four-year degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Five years of experience in industrial manufacturing engineering.
  • Three years of engineering experience in fabrication processes.
  • Experience in glass door or window assembly is a plus.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with 2D CAD (3D is a plus).
  • Experience with facility layout design.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and polyurethane foaming.
  • Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing expertise.
