Overview

The Senior Manager of Professional Development at Capitol Recruiters Inc. is a key role within a global law firm in Washington, DC, focused on enhancing the professional development of attorneys. This hybrid position entails collaboration with practice groups to foster career growth through coaching, training, and development programs, while also implementing strategies to meet both organizational and individual goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team and leadership to assist attorneys in gaining work experience
  • Discuss associate and counsel pipeline with practice groups
  • Provide advice and coaching on career growth and development
  • Analyze workloads to make staffing recommendations
  • Identify associate career development needs and implement related programs
  • Assist in administration of performance evaluation processes
  • Oversee and improve attorney mentoring programs
  • Manage onboarding and integration processes for new associates
  • Supervise junior members of the Professional Development team
  • Monitor trends in legal talent and professional development

Required skills

  • 8-10 years of career development experience in a law firm
  • Experience in legal, consulting, or professional services organizations
  • Expert understanding of professional and career development best practices
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or J.D. preferred
  • Coaching experience and certification a plus

What the company offers

  • Salary range: $178k - $210k commensurate with experience
