Job Description

Overview

Avantor is seeking a Senior Manager for Maintenance and Engineering who will lead a large, multidisciplinary team focused on engineering and maintenance in a complex manufacturing setting. This role emphasizes developing strategies that enhance equipment performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster cross-departmental collaboration.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and maintenance professionals.
  • Provide strategic direction for engineering and maintenance programs.
  • Supervise and develop maintenance technicians, including conducting performance appraisals.
  • Oversee commissioning and qualification of equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Coordinate engineering and maintenance work across multiple systems.
  • Maintain and report on engineering and maintenance metrics.
  • Support internal and external audits and manage contracted maintenance activities.
  • Participate in meetings and provide administrative support as needed.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in maintenance and reliability, including 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical documents
  • Knowledge of safety practices including lockout/tagout and confined space entry
