Job Description

Overview

The Senior Manager, External Reporting & Accounting Policy at Vaco by Highspring will oversee compliance with accounting standards and lead the preparation, finalization, and review of financial reports and disclosures necessary for various regulatory agencies and stakeholders. This role involves producing external financial information and ensuring adherence to both US GAAP and IFRS standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare annual and quarterly financial statements, including MD&A, News Release, and AIF.
  • Review and comment on financial statements and disclosures for compliance with external reporting requirements.
  • Manage corporate accounting and financial policies to ensure alignment with external reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors on complex accounting and finance issues.
  • Oversee the disclosure & controls program to support executive certifications.
  • Lead and supervise a team, setting clear objectives and monitoring their progress.

Required skills

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • CPA accounting designation
  • 7+ years of experience in public company audits
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting firm audits
  • Experience in Energy, Utilities, and Mining industries
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Working knowledge of regulatory reporting environments (SEDAR, SEC, 52-109, SOX)
  • Experience with complex technical accounting issues
