Overview

The Senior Litigation Paralegal role at Capitol Recruiters Inc. is designed for experienced professionals within a global law firm setting in Washington, DC. This hybrid position requires candidates with a background in AmLaw 100 firms, extensive trial preparation, and hands-on trial experience, who will lead complex cases and mentor junior paralegals.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage all elements of litigation case management including discovery and trial activities
  • Utilize case calendaring systems to track filings
  • Establish procedures for document organization and retrieval
  • Coordinate and oversee the tasks of junior paralegals in large litigation matters
  • Liaise between case team attorneys and support staff
  • Interact with external entities to gather information or coordinate trial activities
  • Lead discovery and witness preparation efforts
  • Draft, review, and analyze legal documents as needed
  • Provide guidance and training to junior paralegals regarding litigation procedures

Required skills

  • Five plus years of litigation paralegal experience
  • Experience in AmLaw 100 or specialized law firms
  • Trial preparation and attendance experience
  • Cite checking and familiarity with Bluebook rules
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with changing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with court filings and e-filings
  • Familiarity with e-discovery databases (e.g., Relativity, Nuix)
  • Proficiency with litigation support software (e.g., LiveNote, CaseMap)
  • Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
  • Flexibility for overtime work and travel
