The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a wide range of legal services, with a focus on commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This role involves reviewing, negotiating, and drafting various contracts, including leases, construction contracts, and procurement documents. The Senior In-House Counsel will also provide guidance on legal issues related to the Canada Marine Act, the Access to Information Act, and the Privacy Act, and will be involved in corporate governance matters and oversight of Indigenous files. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years' of corporate/commercial legal experience, with a preference for those with a background in regulatory, aboriginal, real property, and environmental law. Applicants for the Senior In-House Counsel position at the company must be practicing lawyers with a Bachelor of Law degree and be admitted and in good standing with a Canadian law society. Experience in employment law and/or litigation is considered an asset. The role requires the ability to anticipate legal issues, advise on risk mitigation strategies, and prepare legal opinions. The candidate should be prepared to relocate to the area and must be able to obtain security clearance under Transport Canada's Marine Transportation Security Clearance Program.
