Overview

Trane Technologies is seeking a Senior HVAC Controls & Automation Engineer (BAS) to join their mission in creating sustainable climate solutions. This remote position involves collaborating with internal and external teams to design, implement, and optimize HVAC control systems, leveraging advanced technology and analytics.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers to design and implement innovative HVAC control sequences.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting support to resolve system issues.
  • Advise stakeholders on optimizing control system performance for energy efficiency.
  • Coordinate with development teams for tool automation and streamlined system rollouts.
  • Support and improve global smart building deployment tools and algorithms.
  • Develop web-based monitoring and analytics systems for client needs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to test and implement solutions.
  • Manage user acceptance testing and knowledge transfer to Operations team.
  • Document work processes and technical procedures.
  • Balance priorities across multiple projects to ensure timely deliverables.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in smart building or automation.
  • Experience with technical solutions and software engineering concepts.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and building automation systems (BAS).
  • Understanding of communication protocols like BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment automation (nice to have).
  • Experience with AI, machine learning, or IoT in smart building contexts (nice to have).
  • Experience with programming platforms such as Trane Tracer and Siemens Desigo (nice to have).
  • French-English bilingualism required.
