Job Description

Overview

The Senior Estimator at E-Z Bel Construction is responsible for preparing precise, compliant, and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil infrastructure projects, including roadway and drainage works. This role encompasses analyzing project specifications, managing subcontractor coordination, and mentoring junior estimators within the estimating department.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for various civil scopes
  • Develop comprehensive bid estimates using HeavyBid
  • Coordinate bid scoping and quote alignment with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with public agency requirements
  • Maintain and update pricing libraries for materials, equipment, and labor
  • Prepare complete bid proposals and required documentation
  • Partner with project teams to validate production assumptions and risk exposure
  • Lead communication with vendors and subcontractors
  • Support refinement of estimating SOPs and internal training resources
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and internal strategy sessions
  • Mentor and lead junior estimators
  • Support budget development and change order pricing

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
  • Experience with public infrastructure projects for municipal, county, or state-funded work
  • Advanced proficiency in HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of public agency bid structures and participation programs
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to develop bid proposals
  • Strong communication skills and organization
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
