Job Description Oversees the organization's environmental health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are compliant with regulations. Provides technical support associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health hazards. Typical areas of concern are related to ionizing radiation, radioactive material, noise, and toxic, carcinogenic and other harmful materials. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Dosimetry Technician to join our team in beautiful Goose Creek, South Carolina! A Dosimetry Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate radiation health records for all personnel on the NPTU-Charleston site and supporting radiological environmental monitoring programs. This includes properly handling and processing dosimetry, issuing dosimetry to site personnel and visitors, providing internal monitoring for personnel, supporting the collection and processing of area monitoring and environmental monitoring dosimetry, maintaining accurate radiation health records to manage and track personnel exposure, and performing quality control checks throughout all processes to ensure all records are accurate. The selected individual will be trained to operate the dosimetry and internal monitoring equipment and follow dosimetry office procedures. In addition, the Dosimetry Technician will be required to receive on-site training and qualify as a radiation worker. The selected individual will also be required to support emergency response teams needing radiation health support. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Journeymans Papers in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
