Job Description

Overview

MaxCyte, Inc is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer I/II to innovate single-use fluid control assemblies and instrumentation for advanced life sciences technologies. This role involves leading mechanical design strategies to ensure high performance and compliance with GMP manufacturing standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and development of hardware and consumable subsystems for GMP manufacturing
  • Create CAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, BOMs, and ECOs
  • Conduct tolerance analyses and finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Drive prototype builds and engineering testing, including failure/root-cause analysis
  • Design bioprocess consumables and systems for sterile, single-use processing
  • Develop and execute test strategies and document verification results
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage suppliers
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure adherence to engineering processes and best practices

Required skills

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; M.S. preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for life sciences or regulated environments; 10+ years for Level II
  • Experience designing single-use consumables and fluid control assemblies
  • Understanding of bioprocessing technologies, including bioreactors and filtration systems
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, with experience in SolidWorks PDM preferred
  • Knowledge of GMP manufacturing and design control (ISO 13485)
  • Skilled in prototyping and fabrication methods such as 3D printing and CNC machining
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
