Job Description

Overview

MaxCyte, Inc is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer I/II to lead the mechanical design and development of single-use fluid control assemblies and instrumentation for life sciences technologies. This role involves managing the full product lifecycle from concept through commercialization while ensuring compliance with GMP manufacturing requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and development of hardware and consumable subsystems for GMP manufacturing.
  • Create CAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, BOMs, and ECOs.
  • Perform tolerance analyses and FEA.
  • Drive prototype builds and engineering testing, including failure/root-cause analysis.
  • Design bioprocess consumables and systems supporting closed, sterile, single-use processing.
  • Develop and execute test strategies and documentation for Design History Files (DHF).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage supplier engagements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure adherence to engineering processes and industry best practices.

Required skills

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; M.S. preferred
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience in regulated product development environments
  • Experience designing single-use consumables and fluid control assemblies
  • Familiarity with bioprocessing technologies and fluid handling systems
  • Proficient in SolidWorks; experience with SolidWorks PDM preferred
  • Knowledge of Design Control (ISO 13485) and GMP compliance
  • Hands-on skills in prototyping and fabrication methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
