Overview

As a Senior Embedded Computing Engineer at GE Vernova, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and testing Edge solutions for embedded systems, leading multimillion-dollar R&D programs alongside U.S. Government Agencies and other partners. This role aims to transition cutting-edge computing solutions into GE's energy businesses, supporting the mission for a zero-carbon future.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with GE Vernova businesses to transition edge computing and embedded systems from lab demonstrations to prototypes.
  • Design, model, simulate, implement, and optimize real-time critical embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware suppliers to select solutions for industrial and defense applications.
  • Shape proposals and lead projects with U.S. government agencies to create innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with universities and partners to advance embedded computing technologies.
  • Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities.

Required skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disci
  • 7 years of FPGA/SoC design and development experience with Verilog and VHDL
  • Experience with Xilinx/Altera tools and ecosystem (e.g., ModelSim, Intel Quartus, Xilinx Vivado)
  • Development of real-time embedded applications on microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, or ARM processors
  • Strong embedded programming skills in languages like C/C++/C#, Java, Python, MATLAB
  • Experience with Linux driver/kernel development and Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto)
  • Working knowledge of real-time hypervisors and operating systems
