Overview

As a Senior Embedded Computing Engineer at GE Vernova, you will play a key role in architecting, implementing, and testing Edge solutions tailored for embedded systems within the energy sector. This position offers the chance to lead significant R&D initiatives that align with both GE's energy businesses and U.S. government agencies, focusing on innovative embedded computing solutions to drive the energy transition.

Key responsibilities

  • Architect and implement Edge computing solutions for embedded systems
  • Transition early-stage lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes
  • Design, model, simulate, and optimize real-time critical embedded systems
  • Identify and select solutions in collaboration with hardware suppliers
  • Lead projects and shape proposals for U.S. government agencies
  • Collaborate with universities and commercial partners to advance embedded computing
  • Publish technical papers and contribute to open-source communities

Required skills

  • Ph.D., Master's, or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related dis
  • 7+ years of industry experience for Ph.D. or 10+ years for Master's or 15+ years for Bachelor's
  • Strong FPGA/SoC design experience with Verilog and VHDL
  • Experience with Xilinx and/or Altera devices, tools, and ecosystem
  • Development of real-time embedded applications on microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, and/or ARM processors
  • Knowledge of heterogeneous computer architectures and hardware acceleration techniques
  • Embedded programming skills in C/C++, Java, Python, MATLAB
  • Experience with Linux driver/kernel development and Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto)
  • Active/current U.S. security clearance (desired)
  • Working knowledge of real-time hypervisors and operating systems
