Job Description

Overview

Clarios is seeking a Senior Engineer for Cell Development to lead cell development activities for various technologies such as Li Ion, Na-Ion, and UCap. This hybrid role requires collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure that cell designs align with customer requirements while maintaining a focus on technology and chemistry advancements.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate and evaluate potential suppliers for cell chemistry and design
  • Prepare and monitor test plans for cell performance
  • Summarize and report on cell test data
  • Conduct analytical analysis on cell teardowns
  • Contribute to requirements analysis and validation for customer projects
  • Work with cross-functional teams to distill OEM system requirements into cell specifications
  • Foster relationships with suppliers to enhance understanding of cell performance
  • Communicate and improve cell requirements with suppliers
  • Participate in OEM technical discussions

Required skills

  • BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
  • 7 to 10 years of professional engineering experience in relevant fields
  • Experience with Li Ion, Na Ion, and Super Capacitor cell chemistry and design
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques (GC-MS, ICP, TGA, DSC, FTIR, SEM EDX, BET)
  • Experience building small cells (coin cells, pouch cells, half cells, three electrode cells)
  • Knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA related to cell design and manufacturing
  • Experience working with OEM Automotive/Tier 1 companies
