Job Description

Overview

The Senior Engineer - Cell Development at Clarios is responsible for overseeing cell development activities related to various technologies such as Li-Ion, Na-Ion, and Super Capacitors. This hybrid position combines analytical engineering work with supplier management and cross-functional collaboration to identify and qualify cell technologies that meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate potential suppliers for Li Ion, Na Ion, and UCaps.
  • Evaluate Chemistry and Cell designs from potential suppliers.
  • Prepare test plans and monitor testing of cells.
  • Summarize and report on cell test data.
  • Perform analytical analysis on cell teardowns.
  • Contribute to requirements analysis and validation planning for customer projects.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to distill OEM system requirements.
  • Assist in developing relationships with suppliers to ensure performance and quality.
  • Communicate cell requirements to suppliers and improve cell performance as needed.
  • Analyze and report on test data from cell suppliers.

Required skills

  • BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
  • 7 to 10 years of professional engineering experience
  • Experience with Li Ion, Na Ion, and Super Capacitor cell chemistry and design
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques such as GC-MS, ICP, TGA, DSC, FTIR, SEM EDX, BET
  • Experience in building small cells for materials evaluation
  • Knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA for cell design and manufacturing
  • Experience with OEM Automotive/Tier 1
