Overview

Capital One Canada is seeking a Senior Distinguished Engineer for its International Card Tech team. This role involves shaping technical direction and driving transformational changes within the department, focusing on customer management capabilities for international Card users. The position emphasizes mentoring and inspiring technical leaders while advocating for engineering excellence across the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Influence the technical direction of the International Card Tech team.
  • Mentor and coach the next generation of Distinguished Engineers.
  • Drive transformation in culture and delivery practices.
  • Identify commonalities to standardize and reuse processes.
  • Make key technical decisions to ensure future-friendly platforms.
  • Stay updated on internal and external technology trends.
  • Build partnerships with business leaders to guide technical decisions.

Required skills

  • 9+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture
  • 9+ years of experience in enterprise architecture and design patterns
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in coding with Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift
  • 10+ years of experience in full system development lifecycle
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud technologies (public or private)
