Overview

The Senior Director, AIRx Discovery Biology Lead at Takeda Pharmaceutical will be pivotal in guiding drug discovery efforts through the integration of biology and AI-driven methodologies. This role entails overseeing the mechanistic foundations for programs within the AIRx portfolio and ensuring strategic alignment from target validation to clinical hypotheses.

Key responsibilities

  • Own disease biology and target validation strategy for the AIRx portfolio
  • Define translational biomarker strategies for clinical development
  • Design and oversee CRO-executed in vitro and in vivo biology studies
  • Integrate biology data into AI-enabled DMTA cycles
  • Challenge scientific assumptions to uphold biological integrity
  • Represent biology perspectives at Takeda governance forums
  • Stay updated with disease biology and competitive landscape
  • Shape biology practices within the AIRx model

Required skills

  • PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, pharmacology, or related discipline
  • 12-15+ years of drug discovery experience
  • Proven contributions to IND filings and IND-enabling biology packages
  • Experience in managing externalized CRO biology programs
  • Ability to connect target biology to clinical strategy
  • AI/ML data integration experience
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience in at least one therapeutic area within Takeda Research portfolio
