Overview

Takeda Pharmaceutical is seeking a Senior Director for AIRx Biochemistry to lead the in vitro biology efforts in their Cambridge, Massachusetts facility. This role focuses on integrating classical pharmacology with AI-enabled data analysis to support drug discovery initiatives within the AIRx program.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and manage the in vitro pharmacology cascade for all AIRx programs.
  • Define CRO assay specifications and provide scientific oversight for external assay execution.
  • Integrate biochemical data into AI-enabled DMTA cycles.
  • Ensure data quality, reproducibility, and standardization across external biology partners.
  • Contribute to safety and mechanistic profiling strategies.
  • Provide scientific input for PRC presentations and governance decision-making.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant biochemistry literature and technologies.

Required skills

  • PhD in biochemistry, pharmacology, or cell biology.
  • 12-15+ years of drug discovery experience.
  • Experience in biochemical and cell-based assay development.
  • Proven track record in managing externalized CRO programs.
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate large in vitro datasets.
  • Experience in therapeutic areas of Takeda's research portfolio.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML data analysis platforms and automated data pipelines.
  • Strong collaboration skills in a cross-functional team environment.
