Job Description

Overview

As a Senior Construction Manager for AWS DCCD, you will lead the construction and oversight of Amazon Data Centers. Your role involves managing complex projects that ensure energy-efficient and cost-effective designs, while collaborating with diverse teams to support the cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee construction project management and related activities for new builds and capital projects.
  • Interface directly with construction general contractors throughout all project phases.
  • Negotiate with general contractors and evaluate bids with attention to detail.
  • Create project scope and requests for proposals.
  • Perform financial analysis and manage construction for initiatives enhancing data center resiliency.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs.
  • Manage construction documentation including RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Drive troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment failures.
  • Record and report key construction metrics.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 14+ years of experience in managing complex MEP systems and construction projects.
  • 10+ years of experience managing contractors and vendors in construction execution.
  • Strong understanding of data center architecture and construction specifications.
  • Knowledge of building codes and certifications (e.g., PE, LEED, CCM).
