Overview

Fortin Racing, Inc. is looking for a Senior CNC Machinist / Programmer to join their team in El Cajon, California. This role involves leading the production and development of precision drivetrain components for high-performance and motorsports applications, supporting a focus on quality and efficiency within a small, agile team environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Program CNC lathes and mills using CAM software and/or G-code
  • Manage and mentor less experienced machinists
  • Set up and operate machines to refine programs
  • Develop machining strategies and tooling packages
  • Optimize cycle times while ensuring quality
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and material issues
  • Perform first article inspections and ensure adherence to GD&T
  • Collaborate with engineering on design for manufacturability
  • Drive continuous improvement in machining processes and efficiency

Required skills

  • Minimum 10 years CNC machining experience
  • Minimum 5 years CNC programming experience (CAM and/or G-code)
  • Ability to program and machine complex, tight-tolerance parts
  • Experience with live tooling lathes and vertical and horizontal mills (3 & 4 axis)
  • Proficiency in CAM software (Mastercam, or similar)
  • Understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and cutting strategies
  • Knowledge of materials including high-strength alloys
  • Ability to read complex prints and GD&T
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities
