Overview

SUMMARY Mortenson is seeking a Senior Buyer who will be responsible for working with project teams and suppliers to purchase materials, supplies, equipment and services. The primary focus of material procurement includes consumables, indirect materials, and on-site services. RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, and select suppliersPurchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factorsCreate and maintain catalogs for each operating group or project that is supportedPropose purchase transactions that higher authority approve prior to final actionSource and qualify suppliers for new products and componentsCoordinate procurement activities from concept through production launchArrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliersTrack order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teamsEnter purchase orders and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basisTrain project teams to effectively utilize procurement systemEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsAll other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experienceMinimum 6 years of experienceCurrent driver's licenseKnowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and proceduresNew product introduction and product lifecycle management process experienceStrategic sourcing and category management principlesNegotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skillsManage multiple R&D projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentAnalyze complex data and make sound business decisions under time constraintsDrive alignment across cross functional teams with competing prioritiesAdapt quickly to changing product requirements and market conditionsStrong customer service and analytical skillsActive listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback A few benefits offered include: (for Non-Craft & Non-Union Craft working 25+ hours / week)Medical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverage Dental plan 401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson matchPaid time off, holidays, and other paid leaves Employer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insurance No-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resourcesTuition reimbursement Adoption Assistance Gym Membership Discount Program The base pay range for this role is $84,500 - $126,800. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
